Children’s Early Learning Services & Preschool Program

Program: Children’s Early Learning Services & Preschool Program seeks volunteers under the guidance of skilled staff and therapists, to assist children with and without disabilities, ages 2 to age 5, with community outings, activities, and general school routines. Volunteers will assist teachers and students on a weekly basis at The Arc’s preschool building location on Lawrence Drive in West Chester. Pennsylvania clearances are required. ABBLE Classroom Assistants

ABBLE Classroom Assistants

Please note: ABBLE program volunteer opportunities are currently suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Volunteers are needed to provide support to the ABBLE program, a classroom-based program for two-year-olds with autism located in West Chester. Availability most Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM and Pennsylvania Clearances are required. For more information, call 610-696-8090 ext. 217.

Advocacy Program Volunteers

Volunteers are needed to help advocacy programs in a variety of capacities. Many of these tasks can be completed at home with the option of working from The Arc’s West Chester office. Opportunities include updating a monthly e-newsletter and assisting with its distribution and serving as a special education advocate.

Special Events and Fundraising

The Development and Community Relations Committee seeks volunteers to support special events held by The Arc of Chester County throughout the year. Events include the annual Bubble Walk and Fun Day  held in May, Breakfast with Santa held the first Saturday in December, and other events held throughout the year. Administrative support opportunities are available in one to two hour sessions or as needed during flexible daytime hours between 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM to support large mailing preparations: addressing, stuffing and stamping envelopes, filing, internet research and database updates, and miscellaneous office support. The Arc has numerous committees that need the expertise of volunteers from the community. Committees meet during night or daytime hours convenient to the members. Some areas of need include people with human resources skills, accountants and financial analysts, and marketers or fundraisers just to name a few.

Our Board of Directors is responsible for the governance of the organization and is comprised of community members who are invested in supporting our mission.
