Thank You for Achieving with Us.

Message from the President

It has been a busy year at The Arc of Chester County and we’re proud that once again, the 2018-2019 fiscal year has been a successful one for the organization and for the people we serve.

Our success is only possible because of our generous donors, committed volunteers, and dedicated staff members. This year, I am pleased to report that we have finished the 2017-2018 fiscal year in a strong financial position and those positive results are due in large part to the on-going support of our community. Your generous gifts of time and money are crucial in helping us to move our mission forward to advocate, educate, and provide services to empower individuals with disabilities and their families to enhance the quality of their lives.

Throughout the year, The Arc of Chester County continued its focus and commitment to inclusion through our offering of a lifetime of services to the individuals and families we support.

The Arc of Chester County has continued the legacy of our founders . To this day we continue to advocate for equal rights, inclusion, and adequate funding for individuals with disabilities and their families. Throughout our history The Arc of Chester County has been a leader of social change developing the “first” of many services and programs that individuals with disabilities, caregivers and families need and want in their lives.

From the moment a child with a disability is born and throughout the course of his or her lifetime, they and their parents will be forced to fight for needed services, funding, and equal access and rights that many of us take for granted in our lives. Through a person’s life The Arc of Chester County is a loyal partner in that journey.

We take pride in offering the Chester County community a lifetime of services. We can only do that with your support.

We are pleased with the progress but always recognize that there is still more work to be done. We are very proud of what we have accomplished together and are forever grateful that you are on the journey to Achieve With Us.

All Because of You...

After attending a transition program and graduating from high school in 2001 Lauren Riordan landed her first job at Genuardi’s in Chesterbrook, one of The Arc’s 200 community businesses partnered with The Arc’s Comprehensive Employment Services (CES) program. In 2010 Genuardi’s was closing so Lauren decided to search for a new job and within one month, with job support from the CES program, found a new job at TJMaxx in Devon working in merchandising. The job is a perfect fit for Lauren and her skills; she is proud that she always meets the job requirements and is often praised by her supervisor for doing so.

Lauren rarely misses work, except for vacations with her parents. Lauren enjoys working and is respected and well-liked by her coworkers and has received the Employee of the Month award as voted by her coworkers. This past summer, Lauren was also honored, among other employees, for five years of service at TJMaxx.
CES collaborates with many community partners (employers) who recognize the talents of the people The Arc works with and realize how much they have to contribute to the workplace. TJMaxx received The Arc’s annual Employer of the Year Award in 2005 and has been employing Arc CES participants since the programs started 15 years ago.

By the Numbers...

A lifetime of services centered on personal success for individuals of all abilities.
